Judging

BOTB operates on an unconventional judging system. We ask that studio owners and teachers familiarize themselves with our judging/scoring system and to please ask questions and clarifications prior to the attendance of one of our events.   

VIDEO CRITIQUES

Every routine will receive video critiques to ensure dancers are getting the most out of their critiques. Video critiques provide the dancer with the opportunity to see what a judge is referring to as it happens.   

JUDGES

Three judges will make up our panel of judges. Each judge will be assigned an area to judge. 

JUDGE #1-TECHNIQUE (40 points) 

Control, balance, extensions, turns, elevations, body lines, placement, flexibility 

JUDGE #2- EXECUTION & STAGE PRESENCE (30 points)

Precision, clarity, synchronization, rhythm, musicality, timing

Personality, confidence, energy, emotion, projection, focus, interaction

JUDGE #3- CHOREOGRAPHY & OVERALL APPEARANCE (30 points) 

Staging, difficulty, use of stage, variety, transitions, use of props, creativity, originality

Costume originality/fit/design, make/hair, appropriateness 

MAXIMUM POSSIBLE POINTS
